Wincanton Tennis Club

Wincanton Tennis Club are affiliated to the Lawn Tennis Association and currently have around 140 members (80 adults and 60 juniors). They play on the 4 all weather courts with floodlights on the right side of the entrance drive and offer all levels of coaching and social play.

There are currently six teams which play in the following leagues:

• 2 mens - Yeovil League
• 2 ladies - Yeovil League
• 2 mixed - Shaftesbury League

Club Training Sessions:

• Monday Evening 6.30pm – 8.30pm
• Wednesday Evenings 6.30 – 8.30pm
• Visitors welcome £2 per session.

Wincanton Tennis Club appoints new Coach

Wincanton Tennis Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Jon Rolnik as the new Club Coach. Jon joins Wincanton as a fully-qualified LTA Coach most recently having been Head Coach at CentreParcs, Longleat, as well as working at Shaftesbury Tennis Centre.

Since qualifying as a LTA Level 3 Coach in 2005, Jon has gained valuable experience at a number of venues including David Lloyd Swindon and Cheltenham Ladies College. Specifically, he has huge experience with mini and junior tennis programmes having coached children from the age of 5 upwards with a number of students reaching County standard. With immediate effect, Jon will be developing both the junior and adult courses at Wincanton as well as being available for private coaching sessions for those looking for more one-to-one attention.

The appointment has taken a few months to secure and the Club is really pleased to have mini, junior and adult coaching programmes running again. “Inevitably there has been some disruption to the courses over recent months and we’d like to thank all our members and players for their patience during this time. We’re very pleased to have attracted a coach of Jon’s standard to the Club here in Wincanton and are looking forward to offering some great courses to all local tennis players.” commented Rik Elvidge, Club Chairman.

Wincanton Tennis Club has four all-weather, floodlit courts and welcomes both members and non-members alike. The new coaching programme will be starting immediately for all levels of juniors and adults – contact Jon on 07918 617950 for further information or to sign up. Adult players of all standards are welcome to join Club Nights on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm. For casual play, the courts at Wincanton Sports Ground, Moor Lane, Wincanton, can also be hired by the hour.
