Indoor Kurling
New to the Sports Ground! - Mondays 2.00pm
Come and try your hand and be amazed as the light weight "stones" glide across the floor on a set of ball bearings.
New Age Kurling is a form of the original curling game, but adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth, flat surface, such as a sports hall, rather than on ice.
Importantly, the game can be played by both able-bodied and disabled people of all ages alike.
A set of eight Kurling stones consists of four red and four blue stones. The combination of red and blue handles allows for easy differentiation of playing pieces so that either two or four players/teams can take part. Stones will move easily over any smooth surface, without marking or scratching. Each stone measures 18cm diameter x 9cm high and comes complete with carry bag for easy storage and transportation.
It has become so popular that it is recognised by most disabled unions in the United Kingdom and is fast becoming a mainstream sport in schools and after school clubs.
This new sport is now played in 47 countries around the world, with national and international competitions.
